Learn How Hope Women’s Center Saves Lives During National Suicide Prevention Month:

“I don’t know where I’d be without Hope Women’s Center.”

Suicide Prevention MonthClient D stood before a group, bravely sharing her journey from incredible trauma to deep transformation. Just a few years ago, she was driving around aimlessly, contemplating suicide after being evicted from her apartment. Lost and hopeless, she found herself at the doorstep of Hope Women’s Center, a place she now credits with saving her life.

On that day, the staff not only provided her with essential resources but also extended something far greater: hope. Client D found a community that embraced her and a safe space where she could begin to rebuild her life. She started attending classes, learning new skills, and connecting with other clients who were also walking out their own healing.

As we observe National Suicide Prevention Month this September, Client D’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the critical role support is in saving lives. In her darkest moment, when she felt lost and hopeless, Client D found a lifeline at Hope Women’s Center.

More than 700,000 people die by suicide every year, which is one person every 40 seconds. Suicide is also the second leading cause of death among 15-29 year-olds. In the U.S. alone, suicide rates have increased by 33% over the past two decades. These statistics speak of the importance of recognizing Suicide Prevention Month and the need for organizations like Hope Women’s Center.

At Hope, we are committed to empowering women like Client D, offering her the support, tools, and community she needs to reclaim her life and future. This month, and every month, our goal is to walk with those struggling with thoughts of suicide, offering hope and a path forward.
