Motherhood is a beautiful journey for many women, but it can also be challenging to navigate—especially for single moms who are parenting alone. At Hope Women’s Center, we have the privilege of walking alongside women in crisis, supporting them with holistic care that addresses their emotional, physical, and spiritual needs.

Through programs like Every Mother’s Advocate (ĒMA), we help women stabilize their lives, build confidence, and grow in their ability to care for themselves and their children. For many moms—especially those facing crisis or navigating single parenting—this kind of wraparound support is life-changing.

Hope Women’s Center: Supporting Mothers in Crisis

This May, as we celebrate Mother’s Day, we want to honor the joy and strength that come with motherhood. We also recognize and celebrate the many different forms motherhood can take.

At Hope Women’s Center, we see the single mothers holding everything together on their own. We see the moms navigating trauma or financial instability. And we see the women who continue to show up for their children—even when the road is incredibly hard.

Every Mother’s Advocate (ĒMA): Real Help for Single Moms

Women like Camila remind us why this kind of support matters.

“I didn’t know support could feel like this.”

When Camila first came to Hope Women’s Center, she was doing all she could to survive. As a single mother of two, she faced unstable housing, raised her children without family nearby, and felt isolated. Camila struggled with feelings of hopelessness as she searched for the parenting support she desperately needed.

Through our ĒMA program, Camila was paired with a trained advocate who walked alongside her. Together, they set goals, accessed resources, and took meaningful steps toward long-term stability.

At Hope, Camila also participated in parenting classes, received essential items like diapers and clothing, and joined support groups where she found strength and connection with other moms walking similar paths. Because of our Hope Kids program, her children had a safe and welcoming space to play and learn while she attended classes.

Today, Camila has found real hope. She has a renewed sense of confidence, emotional stability, and a community of women who believe in her and encourage her forward. Her transformation highlights the power of compassionate care and consistent encouragement.

Why Consistent Support for Mothers Matters

Approximately 60% of the women we serve at Hope are pregnant or parenting children under 18. Many are single moms or women carrying the weight of past trauma. The need for ongoing, compassionate support is great—and growing.

Through our ĒMA program, many participating mothers report meaningful progress in areas like housing, employment, and personal growth. In fact, in the past year alone, we’ve provided more than 1,000 ĒMA sessions and classes to support moms in crisis. Behind every statistic is a real woman and a real story of hope.

Honoring Every Journey This Mother’s Day

This Mother’s Day, as we celebrate the mothers in our lives, let’s also take time to recognize those whose paths are difficult and often unseen. Single mothers like Camila inspire us with their courage, perseverance, and strength.
